About Me

I’m Ryan Johnson—a photographer and full-stack developer based in Memphis, TN. My journey into the visual arts started back in high school, where I developed a dual fascination with the physics of optics and the computational logic of image compression. For me, photography has always been a beautiful blend of art and science.

My Technical Vision

I started out shooting nature and still-lifes with a Nikon D3000. My technical foundation in Computer Science (I graduated in 2020) heavily informs what I call my "minimal-tech" aesthetic. I don't see the camera just as a tool for capturing light, but as a medium for rich, data-driven storytelling.

My Evolution

From there, I jumped into fast-paced event photography with a Nikon D7000, shooting for the Asian American Association at the University of Memphis. That led to high-volume studio experience at Jimmy Alford Studios, Inc., where I specialized in high school senior portraits and learned how to make people feel completely comfortable and natural in front of the lens.

Recent Work & Weddings

In 2022, I designed the visual menu and shot the website photography for IBIS Restaurant in downtown Memphis. Currently, I balance my creative projects with an IT career at ALSAC/St. Jude, which keeps my technical side sharp.

I’ve also recently expanded into Wedding Photography! While it's one of my newer offerings, it's quickly become a huge passion of mine. I love capturing those big celebrations as well as the quiet, intimate moments. My goal is to bring incredible value to your special day, delivering beautiful, sharing-ready online albums that you and your loved ones can cherish forever.
